    FAQ

    Ask us anything

Want to finish fast and start working sooner?

You don’t have to stick to the standard 12-month pace. Our program is designed to be flexible – most students average around 10.5 hours per week and finish in a year, but if you’re ready to go all in, you can double your weekly hours and graduate in just 6 months. That means you could be out of the classroom and into the clinic, drawing blood, assisting patients, or coding charts way sooner than you think.
Whether you’re balancing a part-time job or going full throttle to launch your career, you get to set the pace – and we’ll be right there with you!

We get this question a lot – and the honest answer is: there’s no set number of required lab hours. Why? Because our program is designed to meet students where they are. Some learners arrive with healthcare experience, already comfortable with tasks like taking blood pressures or assisting with exams. Others are brand new – and that’s completely okay! You’ll schedule your in-person lab training after completing the online modules.

During lab days, you’ll receive hands-on instruction and real-time feedback from our experienced instructors. You’ll continue practicing until you feel confident, competent, and ready to move forward. Whether that’s just a few sessions or several – we’ll support you every step of the way.

Bottom line: Lab training in our hybrid medical assistant program is tailored to you!

After you register, we’ll send a detailed checklist — but here’s a quick preview of what most students need for our hybrid Certified Medical Assistant program in Des Moines:
